Frequently Asked Questions About Life Coaching

What happens if I can’t cover all of my issues or questions in one session?
While my coaching packages have a suggested number of sessions, it may be necessary for clients to schedule a few more sessions to cover every issue they would like to discuss with a life coach.

If a coaching session comes to an end, and we are still working on a specific topic, we’ll just finish up that topic in the next session.

What happens if I start a session focusing on one topic, and then feel that I would like to talk about something more urgent in the middle of the session?
It is very common for clients to jump between subjects during a coaching session. If this happens during our session, I will simply make a note of where we stopped with the first topic, and start working on whatever you feel like working.

Eventually, we will have to schedule a session to finish working on the initial topic, if you think it is necessary.

If I have many different issues I would like to cover in coaching, how would I get started?
If you are struggling with more than one problem, I will ask you to simply choose the first topic you would like to start with. We would keep on doing that until all of your topics were covered.

Do you use hypnosis during coaching sessions?
While I don’t practice traditional hypnosis, I do offer self-hypnois MP3 audios as part of my coaching packages. I also offer personalized hypnosis audios for an extra fee.

These self-hypnosis audios will help clients to build healthier thinking patterns an break old habits. I encourage my clients to listen to these audios a few times a week until they begin to implement the suggestions automatically in their daily lives.

Do you assign homework assignments?
I like to assign homework to clients as a way to reinforce the insights they gain during our coaching sessions.

Homework consists of listening to audios, watching videos, reading articles, doing writing exercises, and practicing certain behaviors.

You aren’t required to do all of the assignments, doing them will help you to get much more powerful results from your coaching sessions.

Do you need to know about my past history?
Unlike in therapy, coaches don’t need to spend a lot of time going over their clients’ history.
It’s up to the client whether he wants to talk about his / her past, if it helps the coach to understand an issue more clearly.

How will I know if my coaching sessions are effective?
Our coaching sessions will be effective if:
1 We define a goal for each session.
2 You are able to discover what is keeping you from achieving what you want
3 You are able to keep taking the next logical step to overcome you obstacles and reach your goals.

Will simply attending coaching sessions solve my problem?
No. A life coach will help you to discover and overcome your obstacles, but most of the work has to be done by you. Working on your thinking and behavioral patterns requires you to repeat certain exercises over and over in order to establish a new way of thinking and doing things.

A life coach, just like a sports coach, helps to guide and encourage his / her clients as they take the steps they need to take while trying to reach their goals and dreams.

Can I decide what to focus on during my coaching sessions?
Yes. While I may suggest we work on a certain topic, you may decide that you want to focus on something more urgent to you during that session.

How many coaching sessions will I need?
Depending on the number of issues you need to work through, it will take between three sessions and 12 sessions. This doesn’t mean you have to take all those sessions. Most clients take 3 to 8 sessions.

What do your coaching packages include?

Will coaching work for me?
If you want to get the best results from coaching, it helps to be “coachable”. This means:
– Being willing to have me challenge your thoughts and beleifs
– Having the determination and patience to slowly change your mindset and approach
– Willing to do the assignments outside of coaching sessions
– Being open to new ideas
– Being aware of your weak points and strong points
– Understanding that, unlike a consultant, coaches won’t do the work for you. They are there to offer guidance and support
– Being open to feedback

Basically, you just need to have an open mind about making a few changes in your thinking or behavior in order to really get long-term benefits from your coaching sessions.
